Russia’s young tennis sensation Mirra Andreeva has revealed that she does not think much about the contest. The 17-year-old is already regarded as one for the future and she is currently taking part in the Madrid Open where she has already booked her place in the round of 16 after beating the 2023 Wimbledon winner Marketa Vondrousova in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-1.
Andreeva was later quoted in a report where she revealed her preparation ahead of the match. “Usually I don’t have much of thought,” she said. “I’m just, I don’t know, usually it’s just a song that I keep singing in my head and I don’t really think about the match.”
The Krasnoyarsk-born further went on to explain how she prepares for the big tournaments where she revealed that she put a lot of pressure on herself but that is created by herself.
“Before the tournament, I had a lot of pressure on me but I created it myself,” she said. “But it helped me because I thought that, well, I mean Aryna Sabalenka, she has to defend a title here. And me, I have to defend just like three rounds. I mean, that’s a big difference. And it’ll happen every year and you cannot hide from that, you cannot run from that. So this is just the thing that I have to accept and that’s it.”

Mirra Andreeva has booked her place in the round of 16 at the Madrid Open after beating Marketa Vondrousova in straight sets.
Talking about her experience of playing in Madrid, Andreeva, who is set to face Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in the round of 16, stated she feels confident of playing around these courts.
“I feel pretty confident being around here and playing on these courts,” she said. “I like the atmosphere, I like the facility, I like the people, everyone is so nice. And especially Conchita, she speaks Spanish so it’s easy. She saddles up everything and I’m like walking behind her and that’s it.”
