Former world number Andy Murray has congratulated his wife for winning an award. The 37-year-old was regarded as one of the greatest British player in the history of men’s tennis in the singles category in the Open era.
Murray, who recently retired from professional tennis after the Paris Olympics, posted on his official account on the social media platform Instagram that his wife had won an award and congratulated her. "At least someone in the family can still win stuff. Congrats to my wife and all the team @cromlixhotel for winning the AA Hotel of the year award for Scotland. Not sure what's going on with her nose here,” he wrote.
Murray’s career finally came to an end after the mega-event in the French capital earlier this year, where he participated in the doubles event with Dan Evans. The pair was eventually knocked out in the quarterfinal as they lost to the pair of America’s Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-4.
The Glasgow-born star has struggled with fitness concerns throughout his career. It was because of this reason he announced retirement from professional tennis back in 2018 just after the Australian Open. However, he miraculously returned to the court soon after and continued to play for a long time. Earlier this year, Murray announced that he would consider retiring after playing Wimbledon at home and Paris Olympics.
However, things did not go as planned as he suffered a serious injury during the Queen’s ATP Championship, which forced him to go through a back procedure. That ruled him out of the singles round at Wimbledon. Murray ended up participating in the doubles category with his brother Jamie, but the pair was knocked out in the first round. The former world number was also due to take part in the doubles category, but his partner, Emma Raducanu, was forced to withdraw from the event because of a wrist injury.
