Even though he was forced to pull out Murray still showed up and coaches James Ward in the 3rd place match at the Battle of the Brits.
Shin problems forced Andy Murray to pull out of the 3rd place match at the Battle of the Brits event but he still showed up and coached James Ward. Ward was called upon to replace Murray in the match against Norrie and while he put up a valiant effort it still wasn’t enough for the victory. Cameron Norrie is simply the better player at the time and it showed. He defeated Ward in straight sets to secure the 3rd place finish.
Still, it was an interesting experience both for Ward and Andy. Andy was sitting in his corner cheering him up and giving him advice on the match. Ward was glad to have Andy in his corner admitting it as being refreshing. He said:
“It’s nice to be able to pick his brains on certain things and just to see what he says. Whatever he says it’s usually the right thing.”
You can check out how the whole experience went in the video below.
