The tournament is held on outdoor hard courts and is played in two different Canadian cities of Toronto for the Men and Montreal for the Women.
It will be the 140th edition of the men's tournament which is a Masters 1000 tournament while for the women's, it is the 129th which is a Premier 5 Mandatory event.
The 2020 edition was postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic meaning for Rafael Nadal and Bianca Andreescu, they will defend their titles this time around and they have already been confirmed for the tournament by organisers.
