Ana Ivanovic praised world No. 1 Jannik Sinner as the Italian aims for his second Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. The former Serbian tennis player expressed her admiration for the 22-year-old, recent Australian Open champion, in La Gazzeta dello Sport.
Sinner's season has been outstanding with 38 wins and only three losses this year, along with four titles, including the recent ATP 500 Halle Open, his first title on grass. The Italian will be the top seed at the All England Club with proven experience on grass courts. A year ago, he reached the Wimbledon semifinals but fell to the 7-time champion Novak Djokovic.

Ivanovic lauds Sinner's rise

Just five days before the start of Wimbledon, former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic praised Sinner after he reached the top of the rankings for the first time in his career: “I’m really happy to see Sinner at number one in the world,” she said. “I love his style of play and also his personality. You can’t see any weaknesses in his game, he’s strong from all sides. He seems very focused and composed and I love watching him play,” added the 2008 French Open champion.
Sinner's impeccable form over the past year and his high level on grass make him a favorite for the title alongside world No. 2 and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz. There is still uncertainty about Djokovic's participation in the tournament after knee surgery, though the Serbian has been training at the All England Club and is optimistic about being ready for his debut next week.
This Thursday, Sinner will have the opportunity to measure himself against Djokovic in a pre-tournament practice session. The Serbian appears to be in better physical condition each day. Nole was seen on court Monday hitting with Federico Coria and wearing braces on his forearm and knee. The next day, he played a practice set against world No. 30 Frances Tiafoe, whom he defeated in a tie-break.
