Rafael Nadal faces uphill task in upcoming French Open warn Todd Woodbridge

Former Australian tennis player Todd Woodbridge believes that the former world number one Rafael Nadal will have a tough time producing the goods during the upcoming French Open. The second Grand Slam of the year will be played from May 26 to June 09 in the capital city of France, where players from all over the world will battle to secure the ultimate prize.

One of the players who will have all the attention in the mega-event is Nadal who is the most successful player in the history of the competition, having won it as many as 14 times, the most in the history of the tournament. However, Woodbridge has recently been quoted in a report where he praised Spain’s legendary tennis star’s achievement at the Roland Garros but stated that the 22-time Grand Slam winner will definitely find it hard to produce the goods in the upcoming mega-event, especially with the fitness struggles he had in the recent past.

"It's pretty tough to win with the lead-up that he's had," said Woodbridge. "The physical demands on the body, to win seven matches there, is extreme. He hasn't had the miles in the legs that he's used to going into this tournament. What Rafa has achieved on clay is extraordinary. Nobody believed that he could win a tournament as many times on any surface that he has (at Roland-Garros), but to do it on this one, which requires incredible physicality, and probably the strongest mental ability, has highlighted to the tennis community what can be done."
