"I follow his matches time by time if it fits my plan. Alex has been consistently on the top 10 for years, he has the potential to become the number one. However, it's not just for his potential, but also for many other things that he needs to take in order to reach the top."
On the WTA ranking she said: "I think there will be many surprises even if I do not know if they can be described like this. Over the last few years, we saw how balanced the competition is and how many Grand Slam winners you had. I find absolutely interesting that we do not have the Big Three (Djokovic, Federer and Nadal) like on the men's side, but a big amount of potential favorites."
The upcoming Olympic Games are another point of interest to the German tennis pro: "This event has always been a goal for me. I was in London in 2012, a really special experience. But there is still a long way to go, a lot can happen and you have to qualify at first."
She concluded: "But representing your country at the Olympics is always nice."
