Spain’s young tennis sensation
Carlos Alcaraz is in line to earn
some more money with the latest announcement from the ATP.
According to the men’s tennis governing body, five players
who have consistently participated in the ATP 500 events this year and earned the most points are eligible to earn a decent amount of money.
"Players that are in good standing and fulfill the ATP
Tour 500 commitment requirements, shall be eligible for the ATP Tour 500 bonus
pool. The order of standings will be based on total Pepperstone ATP Rankings
points earned at the ATP Tour 500 events in 2023. The 2023 ATP Tour 500 bonus
pool will be a total of USD $1,300,000," the statement said.
As per the latest, Alcaraz is leading the ATP 500 charts
with 1480 points. He is followed by Russia’s Daniil Medvedev.
The player with the most points is set to earn $300,000
whereas the last player in the list of top-five will earn a maximum of $75,000.
Alcaraz became the
talk of the town after beating Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic in
the final of Wimbled in a five-set thrilling contest with a score of 1–6,
7–6(8–6), 6–1, 3–6, 6–4.
It was his second Grand Slam title as also won the US Open last year after beating Norway's Casper Ruud in the final with a score of 6–4, 2–6, 7–6(7–1), 6–3.
