The Australian number one, Alex De Minaur is ready to lead Australia at the ATP Cup where he is hoping for a great result.
The 21-year-old already started furiously in 2021 winning the ATP Antalya Open trophy earlier this month. Now he is looking to keep up the pace for the Australian swing which will start at the ATP Cup. Speaking ahead of the event De Minaur said:
“I'm very happy with the job we've put in as a team throughout the pre-season and now these past couple weeks. I feel like I'm ready. I'm really looking forward to going out there and stepping out on the court and competing in Australia. It's been a long time coming so I'm very pumped, that's for sure.”
As someone coming from abroad, he had to undergo quarantine but in his own words it gave him a new perspective on things:
“I started off the year really well. Now we've had a couple of weeks during quarantine to prepare and look at different aspects of my game to kind of tweak, get ready for the Australian summer of tennis."
He will have help in the likes of John Millman who will share his singles duties. Lleyton Hewitt will return as Team Captain while John Peers and Luke Saville will pair up in the doubles. It will be a tough job against Greece and Spain but De Minaur believes in success. The event starts on February 2nd and runs till the 6th of February and you can follow it with TennisUpToDate Live Scores by clicking here!
