A battle between de Minaur and Rune finished the the Australian taking the match in three sets 3-6 7-5 6-2 following a long and hard battle.
It was an interesting matchup and it proved an interesting match as well. Rune was able to control the match better early on hitting better than de Minaur. He's more of a natural hitter and it was showing in the first set. He had 8 more winners than the Australian, 11 to 3, and it proved key to taking it.
The second set was a very long one. It lasted well over an hour and saw de Minaur taking it 7-5. Both players played well and upped their level but towards the end of the set, Rune started to experience physical issues - cramping. It's not the first time he started experiencing cramping but these ones were pretty bad.
They didn't allow him to serve properly and he simply couldn't play at all in the final set. Due to that, de Minaur quickly raced to a 6-2 finish in the final to book the final. The match ended late at night because it only started at about midnight local time.

Alex De Minaur beats Holger Rune 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 to reach the Acapulco final. 3rd career ATP 500 final. Another incredible almost 3h semifinal in Mexico. One of the most unbelievable nights of tennis I can remember. Brutal conditions.
