Andrey Rublev played a flawless match to come back and win against
Hubert Hurkacz in Dubai 3-6 7-5 7-6(5).
It was a marvellous match by both players as Hurkacz and Rublev played a really high level of tennis. The Polish player jumped out to an early lead thanks to a bit of a shaky start by Rublev who was not quite focused in the match. This was always going to be a tricky matchup for Rublev as Hurkac can defend so well and early on it was too many mistakes.
The Polish player served well and won the opening set with 6-3. The 2nd set once again featured strong play by both as Hurkacz was serving well and keeping Rublev away from break points with the Russian finally in rhythm. Rublev was more aggressive and attacked but he was unable to find a breakthrough. As time passed he was seeing more and more chances though.
Eventually, he won the 2nd set with 7-5 converting a rare break point in the match. In the 3rd set, Rublev played even better and he almost found a way to break Hurkacz but the POlish player bailed himself out with a couple of great serves.
We ended up in a tiebreak amd it was a fairly close one. Hurkacz upped his aggresivness to match that of Rublev but the Russian was simply perfect hitting the corners really well. Eventually he closed it out with 7-5.
