Andrey Rublev wins 2022 Dubai Tennis Championships

Andrey Rublev finished off a challenging week for the Russian with another triumph at an ATP 500 event taking down Jiri Vesely in the final.

Rublev has become somewhat of a specialist for ATP 500 trophies as the Russian was able to capture several of them in his career. He added another one with a superb display in the final of the Dubai Tennis Championships where lady luck placed Jiri Vesely. The Czech player has played a superb event himself taking down Djokovic and Shapovalov but he was no match for Rublev.

From the start of the match, it was evident that the Russian was very focused as Rublev dominated play from the get-go. Rublev served extremely well outserving Vesely by quite a bit. The Czech player was able to overcome much of his shortcoming by putting up a serving clinic this week. Not in the final though as Rublev cruised in the first 6-3.

The Russian opened in a strong fashion in the 2nd as well but this time around Vesely showed some fight. After falling behind 1-3, Vesely battled back to make it 3-3 but he ultimately once again dropped his serve with Rublev taking a 5-3 lead. Rublev then closed it out with 6-4.
