Andy Murray stepped out on Ashe to face Emilion Nava and after a long and disappointing first set, he battled back to win 5-7 6-3 6-1 6-0.
The first set was a very long one as Nava struggled to find a very good rhythm early. The American was forced to save multiple break points in the first few games but he held on. Murray wasted a lot of chances as he resorted to reserved play which did not work against the upbeat American.
After falling behind sand breaking back in the game where Nava served for the set, Murray looked in a good position to take it. He didn't as the American hit an incredible shot on set point to take it. Things fell apart for the American in the 2nd set as he did not keep up the incredible level he had in the opening set.
It was somewhat expected because he is not there yet as a tennis player. After taking the break, Murray played comfortably to take it 6-3. The 3rd set was even more impressive from Murray as Nava continued to spray errors. The Brit did raise his serving quite a bit which was important after a poor second set serving.
The final set was a bagel for Murray as the youngster completely fell apart being unable to keep the ball in play for a prolonged period of time. A bit long with 3 hours but far better than going the full distance.
