After playing over three hours in the previous round, Murray spent less than an hour in this one as his opponent retired after the first set.

David Goffin has not been playing very good tennis ever since an unlucky slip in Halle injured his knee. Since then it has been a struggle for the Belgian who tried to come back but each time he does he just keeps on losing. Today was no different as he was completely outplayed by Murray for the brief time that he spent on the court.

The first set was the only set played and Murray was just feeling it. He was hitting winners, serving well, it was like a vintage Andy Murray performance. The British player spent over 3 hours in his previous match yet he was showing no signs of fatigue and stoppage. Catching a break like this one, with his opponent retiring only after the first set is great for Murray.

He was able to get in a practice match and still will have time to recover for the next match. It's a semifinal for Murray in Sydney.
