Andy Murray played another solid match in Stuttgart taking down Alexander Bublik in straight sets 6-3 7-6(4) for the quarterfinal.
Murray played plenty of grass matches this season starting the season early last week in Surbiton. He continued the strong form today in Stuttgart against Bublik who counts grass as his favourite surface. Both players opened well but Murray was a bit sharper both serving and in rallies. That allowed him to exert coms early pressure on Bublik but he saved the break point.
The very next serving game for Bublik was when Murray finally find a breakthrough taking a 4-2 lead. That lead turned to a 6-3 opening set where Murray dropped only two points after hitting his first serve. He also did not face a single break point in that set.
That strong play continued in the 2nd set as Murray was able to get an early break 2-1 but things shifted after that. He lost his serve in the next game and then lost a couple of more games trailing 2-5. He was able to battle back in spectacular fashion to make it 5-5. He saved three sets points during that time. We went into a tiebreak and Murray proved more composed finishing it off with 7-4.
