A very interesting final happened in Aix today as
Andy Murray proved quite a bit better than
Tommy Paul beating him 2-6 6-1 6-2 for his first trophy on clay in years.
This was a rather good week for Andy Murray and he'll remember it for a while. It's the first trophy on clay in years and it comes against a top-20-ranked player who can play well on clay. Paul showed everything he got in the opening set when he smashed Murray rather comfortably 6-2. Things changed dramatically in the second set was Murray was able to find better solutions.
Paul plays a very aggressive style and he was blasting balls wide in the second set. Murray took one break and then another and it quickly turned into a 6-1 beatdown by the Brit. The final set didn't go any different as Murray was once again able to frustrate Paul with long rallies and his groundstrokes didn't hold.
A very cool win for Murray.
