A couple of interesting matches happened at the
ATP Cup today with Spain and Poland securing important victories.
After taking down Greece pretty comfortably, Poland faced another underdog in Georgia. Nikoloz Basilashvili leads the Georgian team yet he pulled out from the match against Hurkacz. His replacement Metreveli created quite a bit of trouble for Hurkacz winning the first set with 7-6(5) but the Polish player rallied back to win it 6-3 6-1.
In the first match, Majchrzak defeated Bakshi so Poland secured another 2-0 win. In the 2nd interesting matchup, we had Spain face off against Norway. In the first match, Pablo Carreno Busta defeated Durasovic fairly easily with 6-3 6-3. The Spaniard played a clean match without many errors focusing on his superior talent to propel him through.
The 2nd match was the premier match of the day with
Casper Ruud taking on
Roberto Bautista Agut. The Spaniard started off well at this event showing good form early. Against Ruud, he continued that trend by playing another great match to defeat the top 10 player in straight sets. It was a fairly close match with Ruud usually keeping things close even when it isn't his day.
Bautista won the first wtih 6-4 and then the 2nd with 7-6(4) to secure the 2-0 win for Spain.
