Billie Jean King on current state on gender equality in sports: "We're so far behind"

Billie Jean King has always advocated for gender equality in sports as it's something that has been important to her from the earliest times of her career.

The American is the one that pushed for the creation of the WTA which is vital for women's tennis today. It all started many years ago but the battle never ended for Billie Jean King. Even now, the legendary player continues to fight for what she believes in, in hopes of making the playing field a bit more even.

During a recent Q and A, King was asked about gender equality and she said:

"No, we’re not even starting. This is just getting started. We’re so far behind."

She's still an inspiration for many that are fighting the same battle and King does what she can in her own way. She's done a lot during her career and after so it's time for others to carry on the fight.
