Denis Shapovalov and Vasek Pospisil seem to be unstoppable at the Davis Cup finals as they won already 4 matches for Canada to reach the next round.
In the first tie against Italy, Pospisil and Shapovalov won in their singles matches to later win the tie 2-1. Now they needed to win another 2 matches in order to book the spot in the play-offs.
Vasek Pospisil started the 2nd day at the Stadium 2 with the match against Reilly Opelka. Again, we have seen 2 tie-breaks and in both the Canadian was more successful.
In the second match,
Denis Shapovalov fought for the deciding point against Taylor Fritz. Shapovalov won the first set 7-6 and continued in good rhythm in the second to win it 6-3. And so Canada had 2 points, which guaranteed victory over the United States and 1st place in Group F. Therefore, Shapovalov & Pospisil did not take part in the last doubles match to save the energy for the later stages of the tournament.
"I think the chemistry is just unbelievable on our team, we all really get along, just such a fun vibe for us. Vasek, it's so amazing to see him back, see him happy to play, see him healthy. It's not a shocker for me he's beating these guys, his game has always been one at the top and he's always been one of the greatest players that I've seen, so I'm happy for him," Shapovalov said.
