Carlos Alcaraz has had a really fast rise to the top of tennis as he now became the second fasted player ever to win 100 matches, second only to John McEnroe.
Alcaraz's win over Tallon Griekspoor was his 100th on the ATP Tour which put him in elite company with some legends of the game. Alcaraz has now won 100 of 132 Tour matches which means he's the second fastest player ever to get to that number, only behind John McEnroe. He left some legendary players behind him as both Agassi and Nadal needed a few more matches to get to 100 but the difference is only minimal.
It's an elite achievement by most of them with Alcaraz only needing one more match to get to 100 than McEnroe. He narrowly missed out on tying the record. Speaking after the match, he reacted:
"Yeah, a lot has happened since that first ATP win. You know, I'm really proud of myself to have my 100th win on the tour, you know, in like 132 matches. I saw I was the second player in history with less matches to be able to get into 100, you know, win. Yeah, I'm really proud of myself about that (sic)."
