Forget Cars and Mansions: Alcaraz buys sneakers and watches to celebrate success

Carlos Alcaraz spoke about how he treats himself after a good result, revealing what he likes to spend his winnings on. The world No. 3 had a triumphant debut at the Rome Open against Dusan Lajovic, with an impressive 6-3, 6-3 victory that propelled him to the third round, where he will face Laslo Djere.

At just 22 years old, he has amassed a significant fortune, both on and off the court, and it's natural that the 4-time Grand Slam champion wants to indulge himself from time to time.

Former world No. 1 Garbine Muguruza interviewed him in the latest episode of Tennis Channel’s VIP Tennis Lounge, where she touched on this topic, which the 22-year-old star had not previously discussed. Alcaraz revealed that while he doesn't buy something after every win, he does after a good result.

"Maybe not after every big win, but for example at the Grand Slams, if I reach the semifinals I like to buy myself a new pair of sneakers,” he said. "If I feel like I had a good season, at the end of the year I’ll buy myself a nice watch."

With a 233-61 career record and 18 titles – including 4 Grand Slams – the Spaniard has a total of $40,555,898 in prize money so far. According to El Mundo a few weeks ago, Alcaraz earned around $32 million off the court between August 2023 and August 2024 in sponsorships.

According to Forbes data in 2023, Alcaraz's collaborations with brands such as Louis Vuitton, Rolex, Calvin Klein, BMW, and the Government of Murcia, among others, earned him around $18 million during that year. Additionally, it is said that his advertising contract with Nike is a 10-season deal worth a total of 140 million euros.
