Carlos Alcaraz Madrid Open 2021
Carlos Alcaraz capped off a very impressive week in Umag with another impressive performance beating Richard Gasquet 6-2 6-2 in the final.
Ever since Alcaraz started beating seasoned veterans at the start of the year in Australia many started noticing the immense talent coming from Spain. Since then Alcaraz was able to work his way into the top 100 and his season of dream continued tonight in Umag.
He faced Richard Gasquet in the final of Umag and became the youngest ever finalist at the event at 18 years of age. He then became the youngest-ever winner of the event after beating Gasquet 6-2 6-2. A truly sensational performance by Alcaraz who played great all week long.
The final was no different and the most impressive part was that he really did not show too many nerves. At times he would miss an easy shot but in general, he played a perfect match from start to finish. Gasquet was not sensational but the Frenchman played well enough.
However he never truly had a chance in the match and the score is an accurate representation of how the match went. Alcaraz dominated rallies and the match, winning his maiden title in impressive fashion. Congratulations.
