Spain’s tennis star
Carlos Alcaraz’s younger brother Jamie produced
an impressive performance in the recently concluded Rafa Nadal Tour event.
The 20-year-old is often regarded as one of the most
highly-rated young tennis players in the men’s singles category along with Italy’s
Jannik Sinner and America’s Ben Shelton.
His brother Jamie, who is just 12 years old, finished as the
runner-up in the event after losing the final to Russia’s Stefan Shangichev in
straight sets with a score of 6-0, 6-1. Alcaraz is currently in the Italian city of Turin where he will
be taking part in the upcoming ATP Finals event, starting from Sunday.
The current world number two will be hoping to have a much
better outing in the last major tournament in the calendar year, especially after
suffering a shocking exit from the recently concluded Paris Masters where he lost
to Russia’s Roman Safiullin in the final with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
Alcaraz will face Germany’s Alexander Zverev in his first
group match of the competition on Sunday. It will be the seventh meeting
between the two on the tennis court. In the previous six meetings, both players
emerged victorious on three occasions.
The last meeting between the two took place in the US Open
2023 quarterfinal where the Spaniard came out on top with a score of 6-3 6-2
6-4.
