Coco Gauff continued her good play on caly with another strong win over Angelique Keber 6-1 6-4.
The win comes as Kerber continues to struggle this year in what so far has been a very modest season for the German. Kerber was never the best on clay nor did she ever like the surface however in her best days she was quite respectable on it and could pull out wins. Not anymore it seems as Gauff entered this match on fire blitzing past the German with ease.
Gauff won the opening set with 6-1 and it was a continuation of good play shown in Madrid. She had a deep run at the Roland Garros last year and she is preparing to peak at the event which things going well so far. The 2nd set was interesting as it featured a tighter battle but it was mostly to Gauff taking a step back. Kerber improved a lot on her serve in the 2nd set as in the first she barely won any points.
It was still not enough as she lost her serve early and she was mostly playing catch up since then. Gauff avoided complicating matters in the end and served it out 6-4 which is important for her confidence moving forward. She is looking very sharp on the red dirt so far this year.
