Felix Auger-Aliassime complicated things for himself having to play three sets but he emerged victorious 6-4 6-7(2) 6-2.
Auger-Aliassime is the only remaining player in the draw that was top 10 once with Matteo Berrettini out of the competition. Due to that, he's technically considered to favourite for this event and he has been playing really strong tennis lately.
He was fairly decent in this one as well but he made a couple of poor choices that cost him the second set. The first one was played pretty well by Otte who was strong all night but the German really struggled with his serve in this one. If he served a bit better and actually converted one of the four break points he might have taken it.
Auger was better in those crucial moments and served better taking the set 6-4. The second set was quite the reverse as Otte levelled up quite a bit towards the end of the set while Auger controlled the opening part of it. The Canadian was up 3-1 but he dropped that lead. He went up a break once more but lost it again. In the tiebreak, Otte risked more and it worked as he took it 7-2.
The final set was one that featured a solid start from both but Auger eventually started playing much better than his opponent and emerged victorious as Otte fell apart late.
