Fritz sets up American final against Cressy in Eastbourne

The clash between former Eastbourne champions Fritz and de Minaur was won by the American who proved better in three sets 6-1 6-7(5) 6-3.

Fritz started off the match rather well and it's been this way the entire week. The American was 0-2 before this week on grass but he found his form in Eastbourne once more as this event was the first one he ever won as a professional a couple of years ago. de Minaur played rather bad to start the match not being able to hit his serve and generally playing rather poor.

Fritz attacked the 2nd serve with great success and raced to a 6-1 finish. The 2nd set started off with both players needing to save break points in their first service games. After that, both settled into a nice rhythm and we ended up in a tiebreak. Frtiz was better early with a 3-1 and 5-3 lead but he lost four points in a row to drop it 5-7.

It was an aggravating result for the American but he rallied well in the 2nd set outplaying de Minaur comfortable to take an early 3-1 lead. He held it without problems to finish off the match 6-3. Fritz will face compatriot Cressy in the final trying to win this event for the 2nd time in his career.
