Gael Monfils and Dan Evans have been confirmed to participate in the Dubai Tie Break Tens as the event with a unique format is set to make its debut in the Middle East.
The Dubai Tie Break Tens will be held on October 22nd in Dubai with a very unique tennis format that has been introduced in 2015 in London. Players will compete in fast-paced matches that don't have any games or sets but rather a 10-point match tiebreak. The first player to win 10 points will win the match and move on in the knockout event that will feature 8 players.
It will be held in the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai with the winner taking home the $136,130 prize money. It's a winner-takes-all event. Jimmy Poon the tournament director said:
“This is such a great addition to the Dubai sporting calendar and we’re really excited to see some of the world’s best players come to showcase this exciting game. Tennis fans will enjoy the game as they’ve not seen it before here and I’m confident the sport will attract some new fans as they enjoy this fast-paced evening of sporting fun."
The first edition was won by Kyle Edmund who beat Andy Murray in the final. Since then the event was held in Vienna, Madrid, Melbourne, New York and Indian Wells with now Dubai on the schedule. Two players taht have been confirmed so far are Dan Evans and Gael Monfils.
