Alex De Minaur won his 5th ATP title in Eastbourne by defeating Lorenzo Sonego 4-6 6-4 7-6(5) and the Australian shared a lot of things after the match.
It has been a great grass season for Alex De Minaur who has played every week since it started and finally won a trophy. The win came in Eastbourne against Lorenzo Sonego, a man who has a very good grass game as well. The win featured a comeback after dropping the 1st set and De Minaur spoke about the comeback.
He said:
“I had to pull through all my mental strength I had. I had to tell myself to try and be a bit more aggressive and go to win that match, not just wait for my opponent to lose it, because he was not going to do that."
For De Minaur a stretch of good results is a welcoming sight after a very tough opening of the season. The Australian confirmed he was relieved upon winning:
"My first emotion is a relief, for finally getting these results, and ecstatic I have been able to pull through and play some good tennis. Every match has helped me confidence-wise and strategy-wise. Every match I play, I take little things, what I could have done better, what I want to do next time I am in that position."
