Henman sees Murray as his standout player from Australian Open: "An incredible performance"

Tim Henman chose his standout player of the 2023 Australian Open and he chose compatriot Andy Murray who impressed many with his effort down under.

Murray reached the 3rd round of the Australian Open which is a good result but it's actually incredible considering the circumstances. He had a tough draw, probably the toughest R1-R2 pair in the whole draw as he faced Berrettini and then Kokkinakis. He defeated Berrettini in an epic 5-set match spending over four hours on the court. He was then beaten by Kokkinakis as the Greek had a 2-0 lead and 5-2 in the 3rd set only to allow Murray a huge comeback win that almost became the longest match in Australian Open history.

Truly memorable according to Henman:

"There have been so many amazing moments at the Australian Open 2023 but for me the standout player was Andy Murray. His first two matches against Berrettini and Kokkinakis, his effort to be on the court for over ten hours and come through those two absolute epics was an incredible performance."

He added:

Didn't quite have enough left in the tank for Bautista Agut but for me really good signs for the rest of the season and hopefully Andy Murray can build on that.
