Novak Djokovic fans are discussing conspiracy theories amid doubts about Rafael Nadal’s participation in the Olympic Games. Following the draw, the two players could potentially face each other in the second round.
On Thursday, a thigh injury forced Nadal to cancel his training session, raising concerns about his physical condition and whether he will be ready to compete. Both Nadal and Djokovic will debut in the singles draw on Saturday, while the Spaniard will also compete in doubles with Carlos Alcaraz.

Nadal’s injury sparks conspiracy theories

After extensive preparation leading up to the Olympic Games, the 22-time Grand Slam champion appeared to be in good form to start his campaign at Roland Garros. Last week, Nadal reached his first final in over two years but lost the Bastad Open title to Nuno Borges.
Nadal’s limited competitive play over the past year means he is not seeded, which is unusual for him. The draw was not favorable for the Spaniard, who, if he progresses past the first round against Marton Fucsovics, may face Djokovic in a likely second-round match. However, the Serbian must first overcome Australian Matthew Ebden.
On social media, Djokovic fans began spreading conspiracy theories suggesting that Nadal is ‘scared’ to face the Serbian: “This was Nadal's reaction when he saw Novak Djokovic as a round 2 opponent. 😂,” posted an account called “Djokovic Fan.”
Several of the Serbian’s followers shared their thoughts, with some subscribing to the theory that Nadal’s injury is a ploy to avoid facing Djokovic: “He is already scared 😂😂😂,” wrote another fan. Here are some of the reactions from fans on social media.

I’m sick of Nadal, I’m sick of his whining, playing victim 24/7 as if he was the only athlete to ever experience injuries, his phoney PR, philosophical responses about him retiring but not really retiring at every god damn tournament he’s played for the past two years. FUCK OFF
