Norway’s tennis star
Casper Ruud believes Spain’s Rafael
Nadal is better than Serbia’s
Novak Djokovic in playing golf.
Both are part of the Big Three that dominated the world of
men’s singles tennis for more than two decades.
Talking about who plays golf better, Ruud, who has played on
the court against both of these legends, was of the opinion that Nadal is much
better than Djokovic despite the latter having a better record in tennis.
"Rafa is better,” he said. “Sorry Novak, you've beaten
Rafa a lot on the tennis court but you won't beat Rafa on the golf course. He's
gonna have to live with that! It was fun to see Novak [at Ryder Cup], his swing
was better than what I thought"
Nadal is currently spending time on the sidelines as he
continues his recovery from an injury sustained earlier this year. It was because
of this reason he ended up missing three out of the four Grand Slams in 2023.
The 37-year-old is one of the greatest players in the history
of men’s singles tennis, having won as many as 22 Grand Slam titles.
His most successful competition has been the French Open
where he lifted the title 14 times which is a record in the tournament’s
history. It is because of this reason he is also known as the ‘King of Clay’.
On the other hand, Djokovic is often termed as the greatest player
of all time in the history of men’s singles tennis in the Open era, having won 24
Grand Slams, the most by any player.
His most recent triumph came in the recently concluded US
Open where he defeated the current world number three Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in
the final in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 7-6, 6-3.
Djokovic’s most
successful competition has been the Australian Open where he has lifted the
title 10 times.
