Holger Rune keeps on winning indoors as the Danish player added another win to his season teally by beating Constant Lestienne 6-4 6-4.
Rune played really well in Montpellier last week but stumbled in the semi-final. He returned with even more hunger this week in Rotterdam and he's off to a good start. It wasn't the perfect match for him but it was his first time playing here so it took some time to adjust properly to the conditions.
Rune applied heavy pressure on his opponent from the start but the French player was able to hold his serve despite facing multiple break points early in the match. Eventually, Rune did get the break he needed but he gave it right back. Pushing hard once more, he got another one and this time around finally closed the deal 6-4.
He opened the second set with a double break 3-0 but also allowed Lestienne to pull one of those back immediately. From there it was a simple cruise for him as he closed it out 6-4 behind 4 aces and 23 winners. He also had 18 unforced errors which was a bit too much but he'll surely improve in the next match.
