Hubert Hurkacz resumed his spectacular 2022 form as he swept past Argentine Diego Schwartzman to extend Poland's lead at the ATP Cup.
The World No.9 hit 12 aces and saved all three break points faced in his 6-1 6-4 victory, giving Poland a 2-0 lead over Argentina as both teams battle it out in Group D. Hurkacz's serve was instrumental in the victory, as he won 30 of 36 points on his first serve. Furthermore, the Pole was aggressive on return, ensuring his opponent had little time to react or construct a point. Hurkacz's victory also assured Norway a spot in the semifinals.
In other ATP Cup action, Norway's Casper Ruud defeated Chilean Christian Garin in their Group A encounter. Ruud required just 84 minutes to complete the 6-4 6-1 victory, employing his consistency and sublime shot-making to frustrate his opponent.
Ruud's victory ensured both teams were tied at 1-1, with the winner to be decided in the doubles match.
