In front of a packed crowd at the Cinch Championships Monday,
Jack Draper upset World No. 14 Taylor Fritz 6-3, 6-2 to earn the biggest win of his career.
The wild card clinched standout victories over Jannik Sinner and Alexander Bublik en route to the quarter-finals last year. History seems to be repeating as he downed yet another seed this time around. Speaking after the match, Draper said:
“Thank you all for the support. I enjoyed my time out here. I think since the start of my career, I haven’t played in front of this many people that often, so the experiences I had last year helped me today. The nerves are still there but I am glad with how I played today.”
Draper, currently at a career-high No. 99 in the ATP Rankings, has enjoyed a standout season, winning four ATP Challenger Tour titles. The 20-year-old, who is making his second appearance in London, also captured match wins at ATP Masters 1000 events in Miami and Madrid this year.
