Daniil Medvedev is in the quarterfinal but the Russian is keen on reaching the final and creating a better memory than in 2019.
Not many players played better in the past month than Daniil Medvedev. The Russian is making a case of being one of the best hard court players currently with his unique style that is so hard to defeat. Dan got a taste of it and the British player said after the match that he hopes to never play Medvedev again.
Daniil had this to say:
“Today I liked my serve better. But there was one forehand return that for me was the best shot of the match, so if we take one shot it has to be this one, but if we take the whole match it has to be the serve.”
The return was indeed the best shot of the match as Medvedev smashed a forehand return winner around the net which has not been seen in a very long time. Other than that he is hopeful to reach the final once more:
“First time when I came back last year I had some good memories. Now, I just want to make it to the final again to have another one to remember and hopefully a better one.”
Medvedev is favoured to reach the final especially if he continues to play like this but next up for him will be Botic Van de Zandschulp.
