Nick Kyrgios retired from his match against Felix Auger-Aliassime and after the match, he spoke about his mixed doubles partnership with
Venus Williams.
It has been a disappointing day for Kyrgios as he was playing very well and was up a double break against Auger-Aliassime. However late in the first set, he suffered an abdominal injury that bothered him significantly. Despite that, he won the first set but retired after losing the 2nd set 1-6.
After the match, he was asked about the possibility of playing mixed doubles with Venus Williams as the pairing won their first match in stellar fashion. He said:
"Just pulled out of a match where I was looking like I was dominating. I'm not sure how much improvement. If I got the world's strongest man's abs surgically put here, I think I'd need a few days."
It was a typical Kyrgios response to the question which means he doesn't expect to be fit for their next match. He would not confirm 100 % that he would not play with Venus but it's highly unlikely he would do it.
He also said that he was very disappointed by it and he did not know how the tell it to Venus.
