After completing a clean sweep in Washington, Kyrgios made his way to Montreal and he won his round one matchup to set up a clash against Medvedev.
As soon as the draw came out it became a wish for many fans to see Nick Kyrgios play Daniil Medvedev in the 2nd round of the event. The wish will come true as Kyrgios defeated Sebastian Baez in round one to set up a clash. It was a goal for Kyrgios from the moment the draw came out because it's a proper test for him:
“Physically I feel fine. Mentally just so tired. I haven’t had much sleep the past couple of days, but I am trying to put that behind me already. I am in Montreal and I haven’t played great tennis in Montreal in the past, so I wanted to come out here today and get that match up against Medvedev next. It will be a lot of fun. I just want to create some good memories in Montreal.”
Kyrgios has played superbly for quite a while now and he'd like to see what he can do against Medvedev who dominated in this part of the season last year. Both of them won trophies last week so they're in pretty good shape:
“Medvedev is a hell of a player. His style is so unorthodox, he is a great competitor and he is just an animal. I am looking forward to seeing where I am at.”
