Novak Djokovic had to dig deep to defeat Dominik Koepfer who player had a career run in Rome but now Novak is looking ahead to Ruud.
Novak Djokovic continued his winning ways despite
quite a bit of struggle against Koepfer in the quarterfinals. The Serbian had to play three sets something that he isn't used to when playing against player's who came from the qualifiers. Speaking of the match he said:
"[Dominik] has a good pop on the serve, so you have to guess. He steps in when he is feeling the ball, he steps in on both the forehand and backhand and moves well. I think his game is really ideal for this surface and him reaching the quarter-finals proves he is in good form."
And he was as he defeated formidable opponents before he faced Djokovic who ultimately prevailed. Djokovic will face
Casper Ruud next as the young Norwegian is playing stellar tennis on his preferred surface. Djokovic admitted as much when asked:
"Clay is definitely [Casper’s] preferred surface. This is where he feels most comfortable. [It is the] semi-finals and it is anybody’s game… I’ll do some homework and be ready for that one".
