Alcaraz dismissed an apparent leg injury as a reason for the loss against Sinner in Miami opting to laud the Italian for his incredible tennis and level shown.
Carlos Alcaraz has been dealing with a leg problem for a while now with the issue flaring up at times. It happened in Rio where he lost to Norrie in the final but it also happened in Miami. The Spaniard trailed the Italian 1-4 in the first set but fought back to win it in the tiebreak. Still, Sinner persistent and took the second set and then proceeded to smash Alcaraz in the final set 6-2 as the Spaniard dealt with a leg injury.
He completetly dismissed the notion that he lost because of it opting to praise Sinner for being the better player on that day:
"Yeah, well, yeah, I started cramping at the beginning of the third set, but it wasn't the reason for I lost the match. You know, I went back after cramping at the beginning, and I started to feel better. But of course Jannik, he was better than me in the third set. That's the truth, you know. But yeah, it was in the first game of the third set."
Alcaraz and Sinner played another great match and it's been a trend with them lately. The crowd enjoyed it too and Alcaraz noticed the love they both got from the crowd:
"I feel something different about the crowd when I play against Jannik. You know, I think around the world is probably all the people watching this match because I think it's really beautiful to watch."
Tennis is indeed in very good hands moving forward.
