Casper Ruud won his 2nd
Argentina Open by defeating
Diego Schwartzman in the Argentina Open final yesterday.
The Norwegian lost a very close set but raced past the native player as the match progressed. Schwartzman showed signs of tiredness after two very close and tiring matches in the previous rounds. Speaking after the final, Ruud said:
“It’s been an unbelievable week. To come back here and try to defend the title not from last year but
from two years ago has been a challenge, and I enjoyed every minute of
it.
"Playing in front of all the fans on this centre court was a great
feeling again, being back on clay, coming back to South America after
two years, so I hope I can come back next year and try to do the same.”
Ruud is happy to start off 2022 with an early title hopeful for more success in 2022. The Norwegian was one of the rare players that won 3 or more titles last year and he would like to do the same. He said:
“It means a lot. I think this is the perfect start and it will give me confidence for the rest of the season and also for the next weeks when I am here in South America.”
