Emma Raducanu was honored in the New Year's honors list with an MBE by the Queen and the achievement left her feeling proud.
The British player had a tremendous 2021 year with the 2nd part of the year especially memorable. From debuting at Wimbledon to winning the US Open it's been win after win for Raducanu. The final weeks of the year did not bring too much success but it was only expected for a player so young and inexperienced about the ways of the pro's life.
All of that was enough for the young player to be recognized by the Queen who awarded her an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire). On that, Raducanu said:
"It makes me immensely proud and grateful to be listed to receive an MBE from Her Majesty the Queen. This year has been full of amazing surprises for me so to end 2021 with this appointment is very special."
The LTA also released a statemenet saying:
“We are delighted for Emma, Louis, Marshall, and Tim that their
respective contributions to tennis in Britain have been recognized. It
has been a tremendous year for our sport, and this is a fantastic way
to finish. On behalf of the LTA and the whole tennis community, we send
them all our warmest congratulations for these well-deserved awards”.
Raducanu is currently in Australia preparing for the Australian Open.
