Ivo Karlovic receives Los Cabos wild card ahead of planned retirement at US Open

Ivo Karlovic is playing the last couple of events of his long career with the Croatian player set to retire at the US Open.

Karlovic has fond memories of Los Cabos as he won the first edition of the event held in 2016 defeating Feliciano Lopez in 2016. The Croatian will make an appearance in 2021 as well, confirmed by the tournament director. He said:

"Ivo Karlovic told us that he will retire at the US Open and we are grateful to him, we are very fond of him for being our first champion. It is good and deserved to see him off like this."

Karlovic last played at the Hall of Fame Open in Newport where he scored a victor before losing in the 2nd round. The Croatian giant still knows his way around the court even at age 42. The former world number 14 said in Newport last week:

“It’s always nice to be here in Newport, especially this week as there is no more ‘bubble’ and everything is open again. That is really, really nice”

His career will come to an end at the US Open later this year.
