Rising British star Jack Draper was firing on all cylinders in his round of 16 match against Tommy Paul, ousting the eighth seed to secure his spot in the quarterfinals.
Draper put on a serving masterclass in the 6-4 6-4 victory, frustrating his opponent with his precise serve placement. The 21-year old hit 10 aces, while winning almost 90% of his first serves.
The Sutton native looked impressive in the first set, employing his serve to minimize Paul's improved return game. Although the pair exchanged breaks in the opening set, it was Draper who held his nerve as he won the majority of points behind his second serve to close out the set.
Any comeback by Paul was quickly snuffed out by the young Brit in the second set, as Draper improved on his already phenomenal serving performance. The World No.40 won an insane 17 of 18 points behind his first serve, while saving all three break points faced. After obtaining the vital break, Draper sealed his victory in an hour and 3 minutes, securing his spot in the quarterfinals.
