Andy Murray has been one of the most accomplished players on the Tour in the previous 20 years, winning three Major titles and becoming world no. 1 in 2016.
When he was young, Andy played tennis and football, making good progress on both fields and getting an offer from Glasgow Rangers to sign for their youth squad when he was 15. Rejecting that, the Glasgow native focused on tennis and showed his full potential in the next couple of years, winning his first ATP title in 2016 and cracking the top-20 later that season. Speaking about her sons, Judy said they were successful in different sports, like many other kids, choosing tennis in the end and making the right choices.
"What probably many people don't realize is that both Jamie and Andy did a lot of other sports when they were young; it was never just about the tennis. When Jamie was 15, he had a handicap of three at golf while being a good tennis player. When he was 14, Andy had to decide between tennis and football because he got offered the chance to sign with Glasgow Rangers on a youth thing. It was never about the tennis alone, but trying to have as normal a childhood as possible," Judy Murray said.
