Karen Khachanov advances after Sebastian Korda retired down two sets

Sebastian Korda's dream run at the Australian Open is over as he retired against Karen Khachanov due to a wrist problem that bothered him more as the match went on.

Korda was playing really well at this event but ultimately things fell apart in this one. He faced a very strong Khachanov who played really well in this one. It was a close first set but the Russian was able to pull it out in the tiebreak. He continued to play adding another set to his name with Korda's struggles becoming more and more pronounced.

He was rushing and looking to finish off points quickly which didn't work. It became apparent that his wrist was bothering him and it made sense considering how badly he was misfiring for most of the match. Down 0-3 in the final set, Korda elected to retire because there was no point in playing on.

A sad end for Korda who gave his best but ultimately could not overcome a wrist issue. His retirement was also the first one in 243 matches at the Australian Open this year.
