Per RIA Novosti (Russian state news agency), Karen Khachanov's hotel room in Hamburg was robbed earlier today. He is currently on the court playing his second round match against Fognini.
Karen Khachanov followed Diego Schwartzman and Pedro Martinez in being robbed while playing at an ATP event his year.
The first tennis robberies this year happened in Eastbourne when Schartzman and Martinez suffered the unpleasant faith but luckily neither of them was present in the hotel. The same thing now happened to Karen Khachanov who got robbed on the day he was set to face Fabio Fognini in the 2nd round of Hamburg.
The report was originally made by the Russian outlet RIA Novosti who get the news confirmed by one of his entourage. The report also indicated that Police were looking into the robbery and that the hotel room safe was completely emptied.
The Russian was not present in the room during the robbery and he went on to play his match later that day beating Fognini.

The whole idea of giving out wildcards is to give new & up-coming players a chance at getting as much circuit match-practice under their belts as possible. And this is a HUGE must and opportunity for these new kids on the block. Why curtail opportunities for these newbies in favour of stalwart monopoly?? That just isn't fair. At least give these lesser known players a chance to become more familiar at playing in bigger tournaments & give them also a chance of getting the crowds behind these underdogs.
