Karolina Pliskova is marching on in Strasbourg with another solid performance and win over an in-form Pera 6-3 1-6 6-1.
The Czech player had a slow start to her season missing several months with an injury and only returning to tennis recently. There were some obvious struggles on the way but slowly she is making her way into form. Today she faced Bernarda Pera a tricky player with a nasty lefty that is in form. Pliskova passed the test despite a small hiccup in the 2nd set.
The first set was pretty good from Pliskova as she dominated play on her serve hitting it a very high level. Pera was able to carve out a few break points but for the most part, Pliskova handled that well winning it 6-3. The 2nd set was a very dark period of the match for her. She completely shut down allowing Pera to take control of it and play herself into a rhythm.
Pliskova dropped it 1-6 but got back into it towards the end and it proved crucial. In the 3rd she came out strong and focused taking an early break 3-0. From there it was mostly cruise control as Pera crumbled under the pressure with the Czech moving on 6-1.
