Lorenzo Musetti comes back to win against
Casper Ruud 4-6 6-4 6-4 in Paris moving on to the quarter-final of the ATP 1000 event.
Musetti has been playing much better in recent weeks and he improved dramatically compared to last year. He is much more aggressive and much more dangerous with his forehand and that was a major weakness last year on faster courts.
He did take on a player that admitted recently that playing indoors will never be one of his favourite things. He did win the opening set of this match by being patient and allowing Musetti to overreach just a little bit. The Italian was aggressive hitting 15 winners but he also had 8 errors which was a bit too much, especially compared to Ruud's four.
The second set was quite similar but this time around Ruud was a bit more aggressive and points were finished off after more battling. The Italian posted a negative winner-error ratio but he chose his spots a bit better and won the set 6-4.
Ruud took a medical timeout before the start of the final set but opted to continue playing. Musetti once again returned to his aggresive nature and outplaye Ruud rather comfortable to take it 6-4 behind 15 winners again.
