Daniil Medvedev produced a much better effort in his second match in Rotterdam beating van de Zandschulp fairly easily in two sets 6-2 6-2.
This was not the first time they played but once again Medvedev had no issues. He defeated the Dutch player comfortably in all of their matchups and today was no different. Medvedev looked really strong in this one after producing somewhat of an erratic effort in the previous round. He broke his opponent early and kept adding to that as the match went on.
The score in the first set was 6-2 as Medvedev had 3 aces and 11 winners. Botic matched his opponent in terms of being aggressive but he had only 8 winners and 8 more unforced errors (14-6). It was just not sharp enough for Medvedev who was tremendously defensive and forced his opponent into risky rallies.
The second set was somewhat similar as Botic hit more winners this time around but it was still not enough as he misfired far too often. 6-2 was the score for Medvedev again as he advances to the Rotterdam quarter-finals to be played tomorrow.
