Fifth-seeded Australian John Millman was upset in his opening round match at the 2020 Delray Beach Open on Monday.
After
squandering match points against Roger Federer at the 2020 Australian Open, Millman was hoping to right the ship by having a decent performance in Delray Beach. The Aussie faced Japan's
Yoshihito Nishioka, who put on an
impressive display against Rafael Nadal at the inaugural ATP Cup.
Shockingly, it was Nishioka who prevailed, upsetting the fifth seed 3-6 6-4 6-2 in an hour and 56 minutes. The Japanese star now has a 6-3 record this season and should be feeling very confident moving forward.
2018 champion
Frances Tiafoe defeated Ecuador's Emilio Gomez 7-6(3) 6-2 to secure his spot in the second round. After claiming his lone ATP title here in 2018, Tiafoe would undoubtedly love to repeat that performance.
